Baron Auto Scam Blog
| 7/7/2011 - Tsk tsk tsk . . . |
Ok, so this is awesome and sad all at the same time.
On 6/28/2011, a new site visitor went over to Baron Auto Maxx in Medford and got screwed. Perhaps not screwed, because this customer was very keen to the strangeness that goes hand in hand with the guys over at Baron Auto Maxx. But, whatever it was, it was dirty.
So, here's the story based on how I read the email: Customer needs a car. Customer goes shopping for a car. Salesperson tells them all these wonderful things to get them to buy said car. They sell said car. After signing loan papers and all that fun stuff, the final loan price was different than what was originally agreed upon. The price was modified by 'adding features' to the car that never existed in the first place. Customer realizes something is fishy and get in touch with the company that approved the loan, news 12 and the Suffolk County DA. Loan is now reversed, and Baron Auto Maxx has some explaining to do.
To top it all off, this is the best part. The person who made the sale is someone by the name of Danny and Joe Giordano. So weird, because a few months ago, we were told that Joe G no longer works for said company.

I got an email over the weekend while in Miami for my brother in laws graduation at the University of Miami, it was very well written and had lots of beautiful information regarding the guys out east at Baron Auto Maxx.
Because of this emails excellent grammar, I figured I would spend a few minutes formatting it for you. The people!
And here we go:
Unreal these people. I spent about 2 months looking all over for a 2006 to 2007 BMW 750LI. I finally found one for an advertised price of $26,900 at Baron Auto in Long
Island (good price) talked with Michelle multiple times and went back and forth. Financing was approved through Chase and I made arrangements to fly into
Long Island and drive the car home.
I was told the car would be detailed. When I arrived it was a complete mess..
I was told they did not have time to clean it as the deal was "rushed" together.
When we got there the price was higher due to "fees" from chase. i said whatever
and started driving said car home. Immediately drove like crap. Called Michelle and
was told it was probably in need of an alignment. Michelle then proceeded to tell me to take it somewhere and we will refund the
money. When I got back to Rochester I took the car to the local BMW dealer.
Needless to say, a complete mess. Brakes were shot, wheels bent, stereo not
functioning properly, computer updates, GPS not working, etc. spent $3800 in
repairs to get the car running properly. I was then advised by Baron to fax the invoice and I would
be refunded.. We both know how that turned out. I have numerous calls into Joe
(all unreturned) and Michelle keeps telling me she is sorry. Today I text
Michelle's cell # and tell her I have given up. Filing a complaint with NYS
Attorney General, BBB, and my attorney. I was told "i understand". I then advised her and asked her if she was aware of all the negative
feedback on her scum bag dealership. She said "yes, that's why she doesn't work
there anymore" somehow I highly doubt this.
And that's where I stand.
I have a car that I put $3500 down on, $3800 in repairs, and still needs
$1200 to drive properly with the bent wheel.
JOE and MICHELLE can rot in hell. I can't say I am surprised in the least bit. In the above email, it seems as if Michelle Scalise had left on her own, and wasn't let go. Whatever the truth, i'm right there with Brian. If there were a hell (which I don't believe exists), I would say they should rot in it. Instead, they will leave a legacy far beyond one could have ever dreamed. And this legacy will follow both of them for many many years until this website eventually disappears.

With that in mind, that's what i've been up to for the time being. I am still receiving emails about people's horrific experiences with the people of Baron Auto and all affiliated parties, and I will get them up as soon as I possibly can.
I have also found out that the email about Joe Giordano and Michelle Scalise is nothing but a bunch of bullshit!
Lots of love, i'll catch up with everyone shortly!

Although we are almost at the halfway point of October, i've finally taken a moment to check the website stats for September. And they are looking pretty awesome. Although it's only a 15% (or just about) increase in readership, it's still an increase. And an increase means that I will soon be getting paid millions and millions of dollars to write about how douche baggy Baron Auto is. Anyway, like I was saying, in August we were sitting at 210 visitors for the month, and in September we are at 244. That's a 34 person increase between the two months.
Thanks for the love everyone! You're fantastic!
Beyond site stuff, i've been helping out a few businesses with websites and website promotion and stuff like that, but have yet to rip anyone off. I've been doing this for years now, and I still just can't wrap my head around how people can quite literally steal so much money from people that are unknowing. Messed up. Kinda like Baron Auto, right?!?! See what I did there? I tied in the fact that Baron Auto can steal money for goods and it be legal, and I could probably do the same, but wouldn't because I have a conscience.
Back to work!

But I do have info. And info is good!
So, in the month of August, we have a total of 210 visitors, and 68.10% of those visitors are NEW! So, that means we are starting to get more repeat visitors, and a little less unique (new) visitors. But that's fine, since we aren't getting too many new inquiries about used cars due to the slow economy right now. No worries, it'll all pick up again in due time.
Other than that, all is still the same. I have recently received a few emails from people who are looking for new / used cars, and I know that the information is worth A LOT. I know because I used to work for a company that would sell that information to buyers. If you need a car, i'll be more than happy to get you in touch with people that I personally trust, or I know that I see as trustworthy.

I received an email quite some time ago from an investigator from esurance. Esurance is an online auto insurance firm that basically does insurance. They were trying to get some information about David J. Baron, Baron Auto City, Baron Auto Mall, David Baron, Port Motors Lincoln Mercury, Port Motors Daily Rental, and Best Ford Taxi. Esurance had a lawsuit pending against Baron for some sort of insurance fraud.
Unfortunately I can't give out too much information, but that should whet your appetite just enough to wonder what the hell were these people doing?!?!?!?

And here's G's story!
Hi, my name is G. I accidentally discover your site, please keep it going.
I will wow to that Baron Auto mall does
suck. I will share my story with you but I am sure you have
heard it before. April of 2005 I went to Baron auto mall in Brooklyn, NY with a
friend of my who wanted to buy a car. That day all I did was gave him a ride and
I became the victim of fraud under Baron's Auto Mall's claw. They talked me
into co-signing for a 2000 Jaguar S types model, but my friend's name was no
where in the original paper. When I question it the manager claimed that after
six months I could come back and my name would be removed. (The contract I
signed had HSBC bank typed at the bottom and later it was crossed off and Wells
Fargo was hand was written there). After three months with the car my friend was
having engine issues. He brought it back to the dealer who will keep it for a
couple days claimed they fixed the problem only to find himself with same
problem thereafter. When six months came I was thrilled to go to removed my name
from the contract like the manager said only to find out that Baron Auto mall
was under new management and change their name to "Drive World". Wait this is
only the beginning ,it gets better. Two month after such news I received a
letter from the warranty company First Assure warranty Corp
(who I pay $5,000 finance into the loan) claimed that they have filed bankruptcy
in the state of Colorado. To make a long story shorts I am stuck with a car that
doesn't work and a car note from wells Fargo totaling $27,000. including
interest. I tried to trade the car in, dealers claimed that it only worth
$1,000. Wells Fargo doesn't care they just want their money. Just a thought, is
it fair to say that Wells Fargo is in on this too? because I see they are the
only named bank involved. Because I don't want my credit to be destroyed, I am
still paying $430.00 monthly to Wells Fargo for a car that is parked. Need $7,000.
to get a new engine. Share my story with others so they would know. Any info you
have that could help me please feel free to write back. Insane right? Just driving a friend to get a car, and get's his butt raped in the meantime by these crooks.

Here's an email from Howard about Baron Auto of Jamaica
Here is the latest update on Baron Jamaica that I thought you and your readers
might be interested to know. In Oct. 2007 the Department of Motors Vehicles and
the NYC police raided the used vehicle facility and confiscated most of the
computers. Unfortunately rumor has it that the hard drive they were looking for
was surreptitiously removed. It is alleged that phony pay check stubs, illegal
drivers licenses, and phony employment verification scams were only some of the
unethical means Baron was supervising in order to sell a vehicle. Although the
consumer with bad credit might have been happy to be driving, Baron sure made
them pay for it! Any one who fell victim to the Baron scam should not be naïve
to think that Baron himself did not know what was going on. Signing blank
contracts and then adding etch for $5000, or a warranty for $3000 was going on
in Jamaica at an alarming rate. Baron feeds his greedy pockets by preying on
the uneducated trusting consumer. I do not understand how this man is not in
jail! The good news is it seems his greed might have finally gotten the best of
him because another store bit the dust. Where did all the employees go? I bet
the sleaziest ones ended up at another Baron location, maybe Hillside or Yonkers
and they will just perpetuate the Baron repugnant way of doing business.
Thanks for the time Howard, you're awesome!

Aaaaaand, here's a story from a loyal reader by the name of Amy.
Hey Jake,
Just saw your website and thought you'd like to hear my heartwarming story
about Baron.
I'm from MN and me and my fiance flew to NY to buy an '04 Benz E500 we
found online from them (on Utica Ave, Brooklyn). First of all they wouldn't
accept our cashier's check, which should have been a big red flag, and they said
we had to finance with them. We had to argue to be able to see the car before
filling out the paper work, because they said "what's the point of seeing the
car if you aren't approved for financing?"
6 hours later (NO SHIT)... we finally were sent back to the financing
office. We were so pissed off because they had us sitting there for no apparent
reason waiting for hours, even though we knew from the moment we got there which
car we were buying. In the financing office some dude with crooked teeth talked
at us 100 mph as we went through the half blank paper work (They said they'd
fill it in after we left so we wouldn't have to wait there anymore... another
big red flag... seems so obvious now.) Then they sent us away w/ only one piece
of paper as our reciept, which we had to ask for, and said we didn't need any
other copies of anything.
Anyway they forged my fiances signature on a revised bill of sale saying
we bought the car for over $3,000 than we agreed to, forged the loan
contract, and also did not reimburse us $3,000 for the warranty we cancelled
that they pressured us to buy, saying we would get a full refund. This was back
in Feb, 8 months ago. So that plus interest... they have stolen and costed us
over $8,000 not including attorney fees. We finally hired a lawyer and are in
litigation, and they are now denying they did anything at all.
From the moment we walked in there the scamming began. It was well planned
out and deliberate. DO NOT go there. They are scam artists and theives.
Thanks for your website! I didn't realize Baron was such a big company.
That makes it so much more disgusting what they do.
Take Care! Amy

This is a story from a reader by the name of Dee. Unedited, just as all prior emails. Check it out, I hope you guys find it as intriguing as I do! This story takes place at the Baron Auto on Hollis Avenue in Queens, NY.
Hi Jake
Dude I love your website. A friend just emailed me your website
link. Last year I was looking for a car in a local newspaper. At the time I
drove a 2001 Lexus GS and was car shopping for my wife. I came across and ad for
a 2003 Grey Lincoln LS for a decent price so I decided to check it out. I
arrived at Baron Auto Mall on Jamaica Ave in Hollis, NY and asked to speak to a
salesman about the car and was told to wait a while. They offered me a cup of
coffee and were very polite. I waited about 10 minutes and then decided to go
outside for a smoke. When I came back they said that the salesman for the car is
still not available. I started to get frustrated and asked to see the car
anyway. I was again told not to worry and just sit and wait a bit longer. I sat
again for another 10 minutes and took it upon myself to look at the car without
assistance. When I got to the showroom to my surprise the salesman was by the
car with a mechanic and smoke was coming out of the engine. They had me in the
front for 30 minutes trying to clear out all the smoke before they showed me the
car. When I asked him what the problem was he told me not to worry about it and
they will have the car serviced and the problem would be fixed. I was no longer
interested in the car. The salesman wanted to show me other cars but first he
wanted to run my credit. I told him that it was OK and I saw a few cars that I
took interest in. I signed a release and gave then my driver's license.
The next 4 hours was hell. Not only did they show me cars
that I noticed had problems but they showed me cars way out of my price range. I
would have just walked out of there but the sales manager disappeared with my
license and no one could find him. I realized I was being held hostage until I
made a deal. Anyway I never did get a car from them and I have several friends
and co-works with similar stories.
For anyone who gets to read this understand this at BARON AUTO
MALL they are all the same. They send these salesmen to school to learn how to
be shady. You walking in there is like a lamb being sent to the lions den. You
have little of no chance. I would never return to any of there locations.
I have a friend who went to the Selden location that had an
issue and it took 4 months to correct it. She went to co-sign on a loan and
instead her name was the only one on the paper work. THESE PEOPLE ARE SHARKS.
Money is thier only goal. In their business they also have a saying there is an
ass for every seat. Please don't become one. Thanks for the story Dee, we are all now more knowledgeable because of your contribution. Thank you for your time!

i typed in baron auto and went to your site yto see what it was, and let me tell

Difference Number 1: The only way to get a story off of their site is by paying a large sum of money to the owner of the site. I believe they call that extortion!

Hello,
I am writing to advise you of my similar situation, except I let it go due
to the fact it took over a year for someone to attempt to help me @ Baron Auto
Mall Outlet in Freeport NY, I had purchased my 2001 Toyota Camry in November
2004, I was told by sales rep.( I have to look for bill to get exact name) that
my small dings on driver's door & minor hood scratches would be buffed out
once I returned to pickup the new vehicle within 2-3 days.
This was not the case, I felt they ran it through a car wash & waxed it
to try to hide the marks and when I tried to point them out, I was advised about
the good on the car,(ie. low gas miles, etc) so i let it slide by - so I
purchased vehicle with a 2 yr warranty & had a trade-in. Once in the vehicle
a few days later I noticed my clock didn't work & my driver's seat kept
sliding back to last notch,no vehicle guidebook on car, when back to dealer
& advised situation & advised it would be fixed & for 6 wks+ i was
told different stories,, mechanic left early, your sales rep is not in, &
better to try back on saturdays... needless to say i grew tired & pissed
off. So eventually, I had my mechanic did all the work & paid for it with my
money & was never reimbursed from Baron Auto Mall Outlet of Freeport NY.
The main part that annoyed me was when late last year my car stopped on
Northern State Pkwy, I was lucky I wasn't HIT. Apparently the vehicle's water
pump/engine gave way suddenly & that 2 yr warranty I purchased didn't cover
the damaged of $1100+.!!! I was also advised by my friendly dealership that the
vehicle's CARFAX report & had no prior damges,,, runs great! BULLSHIT, I had
towed my vehicle to 2 separate mechanics I deal with & both advised me that
the vehicle should not have been sold to me this way & the piece was molded
on & was due to break!!! So I commend you with this website & hope its
up & running soon because the only way i was able to get back at Baron Auto
Mall is telling all my customers to be careful about all of their purchase at
any of the Baron locations & i wouldnt recommend it!
