Baron Auto Scam Blog

7/7/2011 - Tsk tsk tsk . . .

Ok, so this is awesome and sad all at the same time.

On 6/28/2011, a new site visitor went over to Baron Auto Maxx in Medford and got screwed.  Perhaps not screwed, because this customer was very keen to the strangeness that goes hand in hand with the guys over at Baron Auto Maxx.  But, whatever it was, it was dirty.

So, here's the story based on how I read the email:
Customer needs a car.
Customer goes shopping for a car.
Salesperson tells them all these wonderful things to get them to buy said car.
They sell said car.
After signing loan papers and all that fun stuff, the final loan price was different than what was originally agreed upon.
The price was modified by 'adding features' to the car that never existed in the first place.
Customer realizes something is fishy and get in touch with the company that approved the loan, news 12 and the Suffolk County DA.
Loan is now reversed, and Baron Auto Maxx has some explaining to do.

To top it all off, this is the best part.  The person who made the sale is someone by the name of Danny and Joe Giordano.  So weird, because a few months ago, we were told that Joe G no longer works for said company.

5/16/2011 - This one is from Brian

I got an email over the weekend while in Miami for my brother in laws graduation at the University of Miami, it was very well written and had lots of beautiful information regarding the guys out east at Baron Auto Maxx.

Because of this emails excellent grammar, I figured I would spend a few minutes formatting it for you.  The people!

And here we go:

Unreal these people.  I spent about 2 months looking all over for a 2006 to 2007 BMW 750LI.  I finally found one for an advertised price of $26,900 at Baron Auto in Long Island (good price) talked with Michelle multiple times and went back and forth. Financing was approved through Chase and I made arrangements to fly into Long Island and drive the car home.

I was told the car would be detailed. When I arrived it was a complete mess.. I was told they did not have time to clean it as the deal was "rushed" together. When we got there the price was higher due to "fees" from chase. i said whatever and started driving said car home. Immediately drove like crap. Called Michelle and was told it was probably in need of an alignment. Michelle then proceeded to tell me to take it somewhere and we will refund the money. When I got back to Rochester I took the car to the local BMW dealer. Needless to say, a complete mess. Brakes were shot, wheels bent, stereo not functioning properly, computer updates, GPS not working, etc. spent $3800 in repairs to get the car running properly. I was then advised by Baron to fax the invoice and I would be refunded.. We both know how that turned out. I have numerous calls into Joe (all unreturned) and Michelle keeps telling me she is sorry. Today I text Michelle's cell # and tell her I have given up. Filing a complaint with NYS Attorney General, BBB, and my attorney. I was told "i understand". I then advised her and asked her if she was aware of all the negative feedback on her scum bag dealership. She said "yes, that's why she doesn't work there anymore" somehow I highly doubt this.

And that's where I stand.

I have a car that I put $3500 down on, $3800 in repairs, and still needs $1200 to drive properly with the bent wheel.

JOE and MICHELLE can rot in hell.

I can't say I am surprised in the least bit.  In the above email, it seems as if Michelle Scalise had left on her own, and wasn't let go.  Whatever the truth, i'm right there with Brian.  If there were a hell (which I don't believe exists), I would say they should rot in it.  Instead, they will leave a legacy far beyond one could have ever dreamed.  And this legacy will follow both of them for many many years until this website eventually disappears.

10/14/2010 - I think i'm in love with Tim

Ok, so i've had a pretty wild day.  I got a flat tire last night (put on doughnut, moved on) and spent most of the day waiting to get the tire replaced.  Totally sucked!

But, as I waited for the tire to get fixed, I got an email that made me laugh, cry, and piss myself all at the same time.  I'm just kidding, I didn't cry.

Anyway, the email was from Tim.  Tim seems like a pretty nice guy, he was so nice, that he even let me know that Joe and Michele and one other unnamed character was let go from Baron Auto Maxx in Medford.

And you know what, that sucks for them.  I don't like the fact that someone lost their job, and I can only be partially to blame.  And the reason that I am partially to blame is that I made a voice for all of the people who have been screwed by Baron Auto.  With that knowledge, here's the email in it's entirety (not sure if I spelled that correctly, it looks wonky).

Dear Jake,

I am writing you this letter from the bottom of my heart,(I am in the car business, for various reasons I wont say where I work) I thought you should know that because of your vendetta for Baron Automall, you might get some satisfaction in knowing that Joe G and two other employees of that store 1 including Michelle S are no longer with the company.  Maybe you are satisfied with those results, and maybe you won't be able to sleep at night knowing that something you were a big part of caused a couple of people with families that they need to support they're jobs.  Everybody in retail, no matter what you sell, there will be complaints.  That's what happens when you deal with the public. Everyone has their own point of view and remember there are 3 sides to every story in life.  To know that people's careers on the line and you were responsible for their demise must make you feel really good! Or, on the other hand, maybe it doesn't.  Maybe you feel bad, is that really gonna change things now?

One last thing in closing, judging by the complaints on your site, it seems that they gave you and your fan club a choice if you wanted to purchase the car or not, you CHOSE YES! Remember that? That's why this site is in affect, So ultimately, everyone has a choice and when people feel that they made the wrong choice after the fact I guess your motto is to "blame the other person instead of looking in the mirror."  Either way, no harm done to me, I didn't even know them, I just knew of them through your site which the ratings are soaring because of all the buzz in the car business about it and everyone in the local industry talking about, (probably not high ratings from customers) BTW, I know this won't be posted on your site, I wanted to share this with you for your conscience.

Best of luck to you

Tim

I agree with Tim in some areas though.  He says that I had the choice whether or not to buy the car.  Joe Giordano also had the choice to not screw me.  As a customer, we tend to put faith in the person who is going to give us goods or services.  If those goods or services are not given properly, we have every right to complain.  Which I did, and it fell on deaf ears.  If the issue was fixed early on, the website would have never been created which would mean Joe G and Michelle S would still have jobs (that of course, if the loss of those jobs stemmed from this website that is).

There is actually a string of emails from Tim, i'll pick out the goodies and make a post tomorrow when I get a few moments.

9/20/2010 - Sorry, been very busy

Hey there loyal readers, sorry it's been a while, but i've been really busy lately with a lot of different things, that nobody really wants to know about.  But I do have info.  And info is good!

So, in the month of August, we have a total of 210 visitors, and 68.10% of those visitors are NEW!  So, that means we are starting to get more repeat visitors, and a little less unique (new) visitors.  But that's fine, since we aren't getting too many new inquiries about used cars due to the slow economy right now.  No worries, it'll all pick up again in due time.

Other than that, all is still the same.  I have recently received a few emails from people who are looking for new / used cars, and I know that the information is worth A LOT.  I know because I used to work for a company that would sell that information to buyers.  If you need a car, i'll be more than happy to get you in touch with people that I personally trust, or I know that I see as trustworthy.

8/19/2010 - And the emails keep coming!

This one is from a guy by the name of Jay.  I absolutely LOVE his energy in this email.  It's inspiring!  I decided to put this one on the top of my list because it is so high energy and chock full of info!  Others coming soon.  I'm taking a drive down to Miami tonight, so I won't update until early next week!

Hi Jake!  I just read aout all  the people that got SCAMMED & RIPPED OFF by those S--------BAGS at BARON AUTO MALL all over NY & long island!   It happened to me also. I signed some papers not aware that i signed a BLANK CONTRACT(it was underneath all the papers i signed & initialed). After they let me take the car home I called the VERY NEXT DAY TO SIGN & PICK UP THE CONTRACT but they said the bank didn't have it READY so call back tomorrow which i did but they gave me the same answer! After 19 days I called Chase to find out when my payment was due & how much i was financing they told me i was financing  approx. 19,400 on a vehicle i was told my financing was 11,800. But since it was after the 3 day window to cancel the contract I was screwed!!! I called my lawyer & tried to get out of this headache so i have to take them to court! The two that WORKED TOGETHER are Joe Giordano & Michelle Scalise. Also watch out for a salesman named Randy, he was in on it also! I've been calling all the investigative reporters & media people telling them of their SCAM!!!!!!!  The Dept. of Consumer Affairs KNOWS ALL ABOUT THEM & how they RIP PEOPLE OFF!!!!   Thank you

Oh no Jay, THANK YOU for the time you put into the email for us!  It's awesome!

8/17/2010 - This one is a tag team from Michelle and Joe!!!

Ok, so this one i'll call a "tag team" effort.  Kinda like the hardy boys from WWE, but one of them is a girl.  But weren't the Hardy boys girls anyway?  Wait, what?  Never mind, let's just move onto the story!

On May 22, 2010, my wife and I came into Baron Auto Maxx and spoke to Michelle Scalise to trade in my wife’s 2002 Hyundai Sonata when she spoke to us she stated that the amount that was owned on the loan was too high compared to what they would give us for the trade. We also spoke to Joe the General Manager as to getting approved for the loan with no money down he advised us that they were working on the loan we said ok. After two hours of waiting Michelle stated that they could get me approved for the 2008 Nissan Quest with Chase Auto Finance for $15, 775.00 I said ok. After the contract was signed Joe informed me that Chase will call to verify the information, Joe told me to, “Say Yes “to the questions that the Bank Representative would ask because if I said no than Joe informed me that the Bank would take repossession of the vehicle because the figures would not add up on the contract; and if the Bank asked how much we put down to say $1000.00 Cash” On Tuesday May 25, 2010 a representative from Chase did call me and asked about the options in the vehicle and how much I put down. I did say yes to the questions and also $1000 cash because of the fear of repossession on my credit report and still owing money to the bank after the sale if they reposed the vehicle. I looked over the options that they said the vehicle had and it does not have some of what is listed on the advertisements. There is no remote keyless entry system, power third row vent windows, stereo mounted audio controls, luggage rack side rails. In addition, the finance charge is $14, 995, price of vehicle 20, 000 and $1000 cash which I did not put down; total 35, 995 after all of the payments have been made. My question is how would I get approved when I was currently 3 months behind on my auto loan with a balance of over $25, 000 and also behind on my credit cards? On August 11, 2010 my wife had the phone on speaker and spoke to Michelle and explained that the price that she and Joe quoted was not listed anywhere on the contract which Joe and Michelle stated that it would be and also there is no remote keyless entry system, power third row vent windows, stereo mounted audio controls and luggage rack side rails. When my wife was talking to Michelle, I heard the General Manger Joe in the background and said not to talk to her and he grabbed the phone and was yelling at my wife and said that she was looking for loop holes in order to get out of the contract and informed us to have our attorney call him. All I wanted was to have the options that we paid for under the loan. The original call was to see where the title was because I still do not have it.

I don't have an actual name of the writer of this email since he used his wife's email address.  But, this is just another story on the wonders that Baron Auto can do!

11/10/2009 - Ripoffreport.com

Ok, Ripoffreport.com is a website very similar to mine.  With a few differences.

Difference Number 1: The only way to get a story off of their site is by paying a large sum of money to the owner of the site.  I believe they call that extortion!

Difference Number 2: The site is EXTREMELY slow!

Regardless, there are multiple stories on Ripoffreport.com for everybody's reading pleasure.

Here's another Baron Auto Mall Story below:
